Benicio Del Toro Mets With Hugo Chavez

Actor Benicio Del Toro has met with Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez, becoming the latest celebrity to enjoy a one-on-one talk with the controversial leader.

The star is in the South American country to promote his Ernesto 'Che' Guevara biopic Che, but took time out of his busy promotional schedule to pay Chavez a visit in Caracas on Wednesday (04Mar09).

The Oscar winner, a native of Puerto Rico, has refused to divulge the specifics of his conversation with the "nice" leader, but insisted he "had a good time with the president".

Chavez has previously played host to Hollywood stars Sean Penn, Kevin Spacey and Danny Glover.

The actor recived critical priase for his depiction of the revolutionary Che in Steven Soderbergh four hour epic while it did the rounds on the festival circuit last year.

However the actor missed out on an Oscar nomination for his performance.
