Betty Ford

Betty Ford

Betty Ford has left a $500,000 (£312,500) donation to the famous California treatment centre she founded in 1982.

Ford, who battled breast cancer, prescription drug addiction and alcoholism during her life, died last month (Jul11), but she made sure her Betty Ford Center was given one final financial boost in her will.

She left $400,000 (£250,000) of her own money to the Rancho Mirage clinic and another $100,000 (£62,500) was donated from a foundation she founded with her husband, former President Gerald Ford.

The beloved humanitarian also granted the bosses of the Betty Ford Center the rights to use her name for the top rehab facility forever.

The rehab retreat has become a haven for stars battling addictions, and former patients include Rob Lowe and Lindsay Lohan.
