Camille

AT ZAVVI PICCADILLYFrench songstress Camille will be performing live and signing copies of her new album 'Music Hole' on Wednesday 23rd April at 6:00pm at the No.1 Piccadilly zavvi. From the electric guitar to the Moog synth and beyond, musicians have long relied on technology for that extra sonic something. Not so Camille Dalmais, a woman whose main instrument of choice is her own skin and bones. “The way we live now we sometimes forget our physicality”, says the Parisienne chanteuse and actress. “My pleasure is to rediscover the body and reincarnate myself through vocals, body percussion, and everything else you can do with your body that’s musical. There’s a real freedom to that.”The title, in case you were wondering, is both an acknowledgement of the various body orifices capable of emitting sounds, and a French-accented pun on ‘Music Hall. Music Hole had a genre-busting predecessor in Camille’s second album, 2005’s Le Fil, a record that sold over 500,000 copies worldwide, and won her the ‘Prix Constantin’, France’s answer to The Mercury Music Prize in 2005, plus two gongs at the Gallic Grammies ‘Les Victoires de la Musique’ in 2006.‘Music Hole’ is available at zavvi stores nationwide and also online at zavvi.co.uk
