Girls Aloud singer Cheryl Cole is to replace Sharon Osbourne as a judge on the next series of The X Factor.
The singer, who is enjoying solo success with will.i.am and Heartbreaker last month, will star alongside Simon Cowell, Louis Walsh and Dannii Minogue, who is back for a second series.
It was announced later this week that Sharon Osbourne was leaving the show after four series amid rumours of bust ups with fellow judge Dannii Minogue as well as her requesting a £500,000 pay rise.
But the 55-year-old rock matriarch has given her blessing to her replacement, telling British radio station Radio One, "I've heard they're asking Cheryl from Girls Aloud, who I love. I'd like to see Cheryl."
Cheryl, 24, shot to fame on Pop Stars the Rivals when she was chosen as a member of new girl group Girls Aloud in 2002.
She said: "Im so excited to be part of such a great show and although its scary joining a huge programme like The X Factor, its a massive honour to be following in the footsteps of Sharon Osbourne.
She beat of competition from the likes of Mel B and bookies favourite Lulu.
