Cheryl Cole's birthday surprise

Cheryl Cole was delighted after her soccer star husband Ashley threw her a surprise 25th birthday party yesterday (30.06.08).

The Girls Aloud beauty - who was left devastated following claims the Chelsea player had cheated on her with three women - couldn't stop smiling when Ashley organised a bash at the Manchester hotel she is staying in while she films British TV talent show 'The X Factor'.

A source said: "Cheryl was beaming from ear-to-ear when Ashley turned up. She didn't realise he was going to put in an appearance and was stunned when he arrived.

"She loves Ashley to bits and she wants to put all the stuff behind her."

Ashley - who vowed to win back his wife following his alleged adultery - arrived at the hotel armed with a huge bunch of flowers and a birthday cake shaped like a handbag.

Following the party - which was also attended by Cheryl's mother Joan and Ashley's mother Sue - the couple left the hotel holding hands and smiling. It was their first public appearance together in months and followed rumours the pair's relationship is still on the rocks after Cheryl missed Ashley's brother's wedding at the weekend.

The pair - who are still not wearing their weddings rings - recently holidayed in Spain's Costa del Sol during a break in Cheryl's busy 'The X Factor' filming schedule.
