Coldplay have released a song as a free download.
The new track, 'Death Will Never Conquer', was posted on the band's website without warning and does not feature on their latest album, 'Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends'.
The British group kicked off their world tour on Monday (14.07.08) in Los Angeles, and posted the track as a thank you to fans.
Posting on their website, the band wrote: "Tonight's the first night of our tour. To say thank you to everyone who's bought tickets and supported us, here's a new song called 'Death Will Never Conquer'. You'll hear it at the concerts with a twist"
The song is a minute-long blues track and, according to reports, is being sung live by the band's drummer, Will Champion.
This is not the first time Coldplay have given their music away for free..
The release of their latest album was preceeded by a single, 'Violet Hill', which was given away as a free download. Readers of the NME magazine also received a free 7inch single of the release.
