Actress Cynthia Nixon has ruled out the idea of turning hit TV show Sex And the City into a Broadway musical, fearing the excitement of seeing the four main stars together on stage would be too much for fans.Nixon and her co-stars Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristin Davis and Kim Cattrall reunited for the big screen adaptation of the hit programme last year (08) and the film went on to gross $401 million (£284 million) worldwide. It would be really hard for people to even see just two of us together on a stage. That would be way too distracting! The huge box office success of the movie has prompted a sequel, as well as rumours of an all-singing, all-dancing stage production - but Nixon, currently starring in Broadway play Distracted, insists the Sex And the City cast is not set for the theatre. She tells the New York Daily News, "It would be really hard for people to even see just two of us together on a stage. That would be way too distracting!" Meanwhile in related news Sex & the City creator Darren Star is planning to have another hit show on his hands - after agreeing a deal with network Hbo to produce his first solo series in almost a decade.Star has teamed up with the pay cable network for a two-year deal, with plans to create a new series to replicate the popularity of the channel's former flagship series Sex & the City.He will also oversee comedy and drama projects from other writers as part of the agreement.Star says, "They say you can never go home again, but with this deal at Hbo, I feel I am. I can say from my fortunate experience that there is nothing in the world quite like having a series on Hbo."
