Thewlis' Mother Slams Friel Affair Rumours

David Thewlis' mother has dismissed reports the actor's relationship with Anna Friel is in trouble, insisting the Harry Potter star will soon be reunited with his partner in Los Angeles.

The couple's longterm romance was rocked by allegations of an affair after Friel was photographed embracing Joseph Cross, her co-star in a London stage production of Breakfast at Tiffany's, in December (09).

Friel denied the claims, but the gossip flared up again on Saturday (03Apr10) when she was snapped enjoying a day out in Los Angeles with Cross - while her actor partner is away filming in Europe.

But Thewlis' mum Maureen Wheeler insists the couple is still very much together.

Wheeler says, "I've talked to those involved and I'm happy now this so-called romance of Anna's is a load of rubbish. I know David is flying to L.A. as soon as he has finished in Berlin and his Harry Potter commitments have ended.

"Anna is a very tactile woman. I have spoken to a friend who is in L.A.at the moment. She knows Anna and my son very well. There is no problem with their relationship. They are fine".

Thewlis and Friel are parents to a four-year-old daughter, Gracie.
