Debbie Reynolds Relieved Taylor No Longer In Pain
0Comments | Comment on this Article
Debbie Reynolds is relieved her one-time love rival Elizabeth Taylor has died - because the movie icon was in so much pain in her final weeks.
The two former pals became rivals in the late 1950s when actor/singer Eddie Fisher left Reynolds, his wife, for Taylor, but they reconciled years later and spoke often.
Reynolds called Taylor just after she was admitted to hospital and the great Dame revealed she was struggling with her latest health crisis.
She died on Wednesday (23Mar11) from congestive heart failure - and Reynolds admits she's glad her friend is now in a better place.
Recalling her last chat with Taylor, Reynolds tells news show Access Hollywood, "I said, 'Getting old is really s**t,' and she said, 'It certainly is. It certainly is, Debbie. This is really tough.'
"I said, 'Well, you just hang in there now, Elizabeth,' and she said, 'I'm really trying.'
"God bless her, she's on to a better place. I'm happy that she's out of her pain because she was in a lot of pain."
