The biggest party ever seen lit up Dubai last night as a host of A-List stars flooded into the desert paradise.

A glittering array of stars were outshone last night by a display of a million fireworks at the Ł15million launch party for the world’s poshest resort

The party, which included a gig by Kylie Minogue,and included a million fireworks, seven times as many as at the Beijing Olympics opening ceremony.

A-list guests included Robert de Niro, 65, Charlize Theron, 33, and Lindsay Lohan, 22.

Also there were singers Dame Shirley Bassey, Janet Jackson, and Lily Allen, plus billionaire British businessmen Sir Philip Green, and Sir Richard Branson.

But Kylie, 40, was the main star of the ball as she wowed the crowd with a 10-song set before picking up a coo; Ł1.5m for just one hour on stage.

Tight security surrounded the Dubai Royal family and other VIPs amid fears of a terrorist attack at what has been called the largest private party in history.

The Atlantis has more than 1,500 suites, 27 spa rooms, the biggest water park in the Middle East, a dolphinarium and 3,000 staff.

It was built from scratch, including the island of sand on which it sits, in just four years.

It was the brainchild of South African hotel magnate Sol Kerzner, 73.
