Editors are desperate to headline the next Glastonbury Festival. The Birmingham-based band, who thrilled fans with their performance at the world famous music event last weekend, insist big rock bands won't be around forever.Bassist Russell Leetch told Britain's Sunday Times Culture magazine: "There's no big plans, but of course we want to be successful. What's wrong with that? "We'd like to headline Glastonbury. It might not happen - but the Red Hot Chili Peppers can't headline every festival for all eternity."Frontman Tom Smith - who is dating Radio 1 DJ Edith Bowman - says watching Radiohead perform at Glastonbury in the 90s inspired him to want to be a rock star.Smith said: "Seeing Radiohead at Glastonbury in 1997 was mind-blowing. It changed the way I looked at music. Britpop was exciting, but I saw something in Radiohead that made me think a little more, touched me deeper."After watching Radiohead, Smith decided to quit his job and pursue a career in music. He said: "I worked in a call centre for a bank. It wasn't hard, just mind-numbing and soul-destroying."
The band's new record 'An End Has a Start' was released yesterday (25.06.07).
