Elton John's Clothes Sale Raises Thousands Sir Elton John's annual sale of his wardrobe cast-offs has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars to help combat Aids. A spokeswoman for organisers, Maya Israel, confirmed more than $700,000 (£400,000) had been counted, all of which will go to the Elton John Aids Foundation. The five day sale saw 10,000 dazzling garments up for grabs, including the polka-dot Richard James creation John wore to duet with hip-hop star Eminem at the 2001 Grammy Awards. At the other end of the price scale, T-shirts formerly belonging to the flamboyant singer and his partner David Furnish were snapped up for as little as $15 (£8.50). John says, "David and I had great fun collecting and wearing these extraordinary clothes, but it's even more satisfying to see them help raise money".0Comments | Be the first to comment!
