Bana's Scary U.S. Road Trip

Aussie actor Eric Bana was left fearing for his life the first time he visited America, when he found himself driving through notorious gang-run neighbourhoods in Washington, D.C.

The Hulk star toured the U.S. in a Ford Mustang when he was 22, and quickly realised it wasn't the dream roadtrip he'd anticipated.

He tells Details magazine, "It sounded like a great idea at the time, but after 10 days straight without talking to anybody, you start to think,'What the f**k am I doing here?'"

I thought, 'I am f**king dead

And things got worse when he stumbled on a crime-ridden corner of the capital.

Bana adds, "I'd be pulling up to street corners, and there were gangs right there, and I'm in this little Mustang by myself. I thought, 'I am f**king dead.' "I was running red lights, hoping the cops would pull me over".
