O'Neal Issues Thanks for Fawcett's Emmy Nod

Ryan O'Neal has thanked organisers of the 2009 Primetime Emmy Awards for nominating his beloved partner Farrah Fawcett for her work on a documentary of the cancer battle that claimed her life.

The iconic actress, who shared 24-year-old son Redmond O'Neal with the actor, lost her battle with anal cancer on 25 June (09), aged 62.

She received her fourth Emmy nomination on Thursday (16Jul09) when she was recognised as an executive producer of her documentary Farrah's Story, which followed the Charlie's Angel as she attempted to seek out new treatments in a bid to prolong her life.

And O'Neal is grateful to Emmy officials for her posthumous honour.

O'Neal says, "For the Television Academy to recognise Farrah's Story with this nomination is such a wonderful acknowledgement for Farrah and herlegacy. I know that she is smiling that fabulous smile right now in heaven, and that she is grateful that the show has been so well received not only by her peers in the industry but by the public at large".

Fawcett's previous nominations were for her roles in 1984's The BurningBed, 1989 film Small Sacrifices and The Guardian in 2004.
