Favreau leaves Iron Man 3 amidst Marvel rumours

Jon Favreau has left Iron Man 3 in favour of concentrating on the Disney film The Magic Kingdom, which will centre around their iconic logo. Rumours were circulating last night (http://www.bleedingcool.com/2010/12/14/rumor-jon-favreau-wont-direct-iron-man-3/) as to whether he wanted too much money, whether Marvel were trying too hard to shoe-horn in too much of The Avengers universe and whether this was a ploy to push him to quit.
It's all rumour at the moment, but some websites are claiming it comes from a reliable source at Marvel. Either way, this is just one more hurdle in a long line from the very ambitious studio, now owned by parent company Disney. Marvel have been gradually leading towards The Avengers by intertwining all their current films, which started with Iron Man. Terence Howard left Iron Man after a contract dispute and Don Cheadle replaced him in the sequel. Ed Norton wasn't asked to continue as The Incredible Hulk and it was announced that Mark Ruffalo would take over the role in The Avengers. It has been a relatively organised process building towards the finale, but money issues will always be a problem, whilst still wanting to keep the main roles filled with the main actors, financially, it's always going to be tough and vital actors and directors will see that. I'm sure we haven't heard the last of the Jon Favreau story, but for now, it looks like he's happy to go to his family friendly Disney story. FemaleFirst - James Butlin
