Book Company Sues Foxy & Lil' Kim....

Executives at a U.S. publishing company has launched legal action against Foxy Brown and Lil' Kim - accusing the rappers of failing to deliver books they were paid to write.

Lawyers for Simon & Schuster Inc filed papers on Thursday (24Jul08) claiming Brown - real name Inga Marchand - was paid $75,000 (£37,500) to deliver a book about her life, titled Broken Silence, by February 2006.

Lil' Kim - real name Kimberly Jones - has been accused of taking a $40,000 (£20,000) payment for a novel which was due for completion in June 2004.

After signing the book deals, both women were sent to prison. Jones was jailed for a year in 2005 for lying about a shooting, and Brown spent eight months behind bars for violating her probation, stemming from a 2006 assault conviction. She was released in April (08).

The New York-based publishing company is seeking remuneration for the advance payments which were awarded to the two artists.
