Genesis Launch World Tour

Veteran rockers Genesis launched their first world tour in 15 years with a concert in Helsinki, Finland on Monday (11Jun07) night. The British band - Phil Collins, Mike Rutherford, Tony Banks, Chester Thompson and Daryl Stuermer - played hits including Invisible Touch and I Can't Dance to 35,000 fans at the city's Olympic Stadium.Genesis next take their Turn It On Again tour to Europe before playing across North America in September and October (07). The band formed in 1967 with the origional line-up of Gabriel, Phillips, Rutherford, Banks and Stewart. By 1970 the line-up had changed again to Gabriel, Hackett, Rutherford, Banks and Collins.In 1975 the band's founding memnber Peter Gabriel left citing estranged relationships with the rest of the band particularly Banks. 1985 brought the band's most successful album 'Invisible Touch' at the height of Collins's popularity as a solo artist. The tour comes 40 years after the Genesis first formed and in that time they have sold 150 million albums.Peter Gabriel will help unveil acclaimed artist Peter Randallpage's historic stone art project Seed next week (20Jun07) with a concert at the Eden Project in Cornwall, EnglandThe former Genesis frontman is a fan of the artist and was thrilled when Randall-Page asked him to perform when he launches his new masterpiece, one of the biggest works of art ever made from a single piece of stone.

Weighing over 70 tons, Seed is the biggest sculpture carved from a single piece of stone since the days ancient Egypt.
