George Clooney's production company, Smoke House, are set to make a movie about the Iraq war.
Based on a book by Jonathan Mahler, 'The Challenge' features the story of Salim Hamdan, Osama bin Laden's Yemeni driver, who is charged in the first US war-crimes trial since World War II, now under way at Guantanamo Bay.
George has reportedly paid a seven-figure sum for the account of the driver's journey - which follows him from a Yemen mosque to bin Laden's Afghanistan compound to being held in solitary confinement - and is hoping to play one of the lead roles.
The 'Oceans 11' star is believed to have his sights set on playing Naval Officer Charles Swift, a member of the legal team which took Hamdan's case to the Supreme Court.
The hearing, which agreed that even terrorists are covered by the Geneva Convention eventually cost Charles both his job and his marriage, despite the legal victory.
Anti-war mvies have recently proved to be Box Office flops, most notably the Tom Cruise-starring 'Lions for Lambs', which was released last year and 'Stop Loss', which starred Ryan Phillippe and performed disappointingly earlier this year.
