Gwyneth Paltrow turns down lead movie roles to focus on motherhood because she "can't have it all".

The Oscar winner's Hollywood career has taken a backseat since she became a mother to Apple, eight, and Moses, six, with the star taking on smaller roles in the Iron Man film series and TV show Glee.

Paltrow reveals she deliberately tackles just one supporting job a year, because she can't juggle back-to-back filming with caring for her kids.

She tells Britain's InStyle magazine, "I look for an interesting supporting part about once a year. That's the most I can manage.

"Some women can do it and that's fantastic, but I can't. You make choices as a wife and mother, don't you? You can't have it all".
