Halle Berry is in talks to star in psycho thriller 'The Surrogate'.
The award-winning actress - who starred in 'X-Men: The Last Stand' and 'Perfect Stranger' - is reportedly in final negotiations with movie producers to play the lead in director Paul Verhoeven's forthcoming movie.
The storyline will follow a married couple who hire a surrogate to carry a child for them before discovering the woman is insane.
Ralph Winter - who worked closely with Halle on the 'X-Men' film franchise - will produce the 20th Century Fox blockbuster.
The script was adapted from a Kathryn Mackel novel by father-and-son screenwriters, Rod and Bruce Taylor.
Until then, Halle will star in this year's drama 'Frankie and Alice', 2010s 'Nappily Ever After' and is in talks to take on parts in 'Who Is Doris Payne?', 'Class Act' and 'Tulia'.
'The Surrogate' is set to be released in 2010.
