Harry Potter Actor Read Avoids Jail Over Sex Act

Harry Potter star Nicholas Read has avoided a jail sentence after indecently exposing himself to a teenage girl.

The 40-year-old dwarf, who has also appeared as an Ewok in the Star Wars movie franchise, performed a sex act on himself under a hat on a train in October (10) after "trapping" the 17-year-old girl.

Read, who has previous sex convictions, was convicted of indecent exposure last month (Jun11), and on Friday (29Jul11) he was handed a 20-week suspended prison term at Leicester Crown Court, England.

He was also ordered to attend a sex offenders course, with Judge Richard Bond telling him, "Imprisonment won't help you, and it won't protect the public from your fantasies".
