Heath Ledger Videotape In The Middle Of Legal Spat.... A videotape that purportedly shows tragic star Heath Ledger taking drugs is at the centre of an ongoing legal battle between a People magazine reporter and her ex-boyfriend's paparazzi agency.
The celebrity reporter's legal claims she was secretly filmed with the late actor in a hotel room in 2006 have been thrown out by Los Angeles Superior Court Judge John S. Wiley Jr. - because the video in question, which was offered to a number of U.S. TV shows and media agencies after Ledger's death in January (08), failed to support her argument.
Attorneys for the unidentified reporter claim the videographers - one of whom she dated - had no right shooting footage and were not given permission to do so by their client.
Judge Wiley Jr. threw out 11 of 12 allegations filed by the reporter against the paparazzi and their agency, but told attorneys for the plaintiff they can amend the lawsuit and pursue a trespass claim against the men behind the camera.
It is unclear as to whether Ledger was actually caught taking drugs in the video footage.
The actor died from an accidental prescription drug overdose.
