The Award winning actress Dame Helen Mirren is apparently now the proud owner of her very own castle, having just purchased the estate in the south of Italy. The renowned 60-year-old actress, who recently won an Oscar for her portrayal of HRH Elizabeth II in the hit film “the Queen,” has paid $1.25 million (£680,000) for the run-down 500-year-old property in Puglia.Mirren and director husband Taylor Hackford have met with locals and officials to finalise the purchase.However, builders claim the star will have to spend at least $1 million (£550,000) restoring the castle, which is within walking distance to the Mediterranean Sea, in order to make it fit for habitation.0Comments | Be the first to comment!
