Sharon Osbourne has defended her pal Holly Robinson Peete's decision to auction an adorable puppy, which her husband Ozzy paid $10,000 (?6,250) to take home.
The former Black Sabbath frontman and his TV talent show judge wife stopped by the Annual Design Care charity event to support her The Talk co-host's charity foundation over the weekend (23Jul11), and fell in love with a tiny Yorkshire Terrier pup.
The rocker bid big to win ownership of the cuddly pet, and the pair is waiting for the newborn to be weaned off its mother so they can add it to their menagerie of pooches at their Los Angeles home.
Animal-rights group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (Peta) slammed Peete's decision to include an animal in the lot, but Osbourne insists the move gave an abandoned dog a loving home.
She writes on her Twitter.com page, "I don't agree with Peta's criticism of @Hollyrpeete for auctioning a rescue dog at her HollyRod charity event.
"Not only did @Hollyrpeete help place a rescue dog, she also raised money for Autism which is doubly-good."
