Hugh Jackman is rumoured to be happy to walk away from his character Wolverine if the spin off movie is a flop at the box office.

Next year will see the first of the spin off movies to the X-Men franchise as X-Men Origins: Wolverine hits cinemas in May and explores Logan back character prior to his appearance in the hit trilogy of movies.

He told Moviehole: "I'm not going to flog something, or flog a dead horse, or try and make movies that people don't really want to go and see. I have no interest in that, no matter how much I love the character."

The character of Logan propelled the Australian actor to stardom in 2000 and the series spanned two other movies X2 and X-men: The Last Stand.

He has since gone on to star in the likes of The Prestige, The Fountain. Flush Away and Deception and will return on Boxing Day with Baz Lurhmann's Australia.

However the actor has said that if the new movie is successful he would return to the role. "There's a few storylines that are running my head which I think would be really cool, but unless the script is right, then I just don’t see the point in doing it."
