Hollywood actor Hugh Jackman added some star appeal to the United Nations Climate Summit in New York on Monday (21Sep09) when he joined U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki Moon and former British prime minister Tony Blair to talk politics.

The X-Men Origins Wolverine star joined the press conference on globalwarming, as an ambassador to the World Vision charity, which aims to help children and families living in poverty.

Jackman highlighted the affects of climate change on the world's poor, demonstrating his point by sharing a story about a coffee farmer named Dukalee, who he met during a visit to Ethiopia last year (08).

He told reporters, "On this trip it really gelled for me that you can'tseparate the issues of climate change and poverty. They are inextricably linked. "Having been to Ethiopia and seen these farmers, seen the battle they face from what is a problem that the developed countries have brought on many of these developing countries, there is a justice, there is a gap we need to fill".

The Aussie actor admits the trip to Africa was an eye-opening experience for him and it inspired him and his wife Deborah-Lee Furness to live a greener life at home.

He adds, "It's humbling, it's embarrassing sometimes, when you go to Dukalee's farm, who (sic) has nothing and who's doing no harm by shovellingmanure, and there's me in my lovely apartment.

"Deb and I have brought in a company to say (sic) what we can do in ourhome - change light bulbs, etc. Everyone does their best. "I don't do private jets. I try and do my best and I teach (sustainability) to my kids".
