Heart FM presenter Jamie Theakston is supporting Bosch Power Tool's "Build and Bond with Bosch" campaign. The campaign is encouraging families to enjoy the outdoors this summer and build a tree house together.
He tells us: "We're trying to get families involved in a D.I.Y project and the thing we're getting people to do is build a tree house in their garden for the summer."
"One of the things we've discovered is that many families aren't handing down the kind of skills that i remember i was taught by my dad when i was younger and instead kids seems to spend most of their time on their computer games."
Although Jamie didn't build a tree house with his dad when he younger he tells us how they were always making things together.
"We built a shed which is still standing unbelievably to this day. But i remember building stuff with my dad in the garden he was quite a practical guy so he'd build all kinds of stuff in the garage and i think it's just something that is a lovely way to be able to bring families together and to get kids doing something practical which i think is missing nowadays."
The campaign is undeniably something fun for all the family to do together on a summers day. And Jamie who has two young boys says how when they are a bit older it is definitely something he would love to do with them.
"It's fasinating to see how they grow up and how they interact with some of the toys they've got. And they've started to play with lego and they've started to construct things. I just think it's important that we get kids to do that and to learn those kind of pratical skills and i think it's incumbent on fathers to be able to pass on those skills."
Jamie who has recently appeared in Activia yoghurt commercials, has been presenting the Heart FM breakfast show for six years.
"I didn't really expect to do it for more than a couple of years when i signed up but it's become a sort of way of life really. I love doing it."
Jamie is most notably remembred from his 'Live and Kicking' days and 'Top of the Pops.'
