Jennifer Connelly has promised that her new movie 'The Day The Earth Stood Still' retains the "essence" of the original 1951 film.
The actress - who plays Dr. Helen Benson in the film alongside Keanu Reeves as alien Klaatu - insists the cast and crew were determined to honour the original movie.
She said: "We all loved the original film. It's really a wonderful classic, and our film was made with the utmost respect for that.
"This film has the essence of the original but has more spectacle and more visual effects - so it should be exciting!"
Producer Erwin Stoff added: "The original film was unbelievable eye candy for its time. It was big, kick-a** entertainment. Our movie is the same thing, just updated."
'The Day The Earth Stood Still' is released worldwide in December.
