The 57-year-old actor admits he tied the knot with his first wife, Julie Hallam, because he didn't want to be discourteous - and to please her mum.The star, who has been married to Irish actress Sinead Cusack for 27 years, told Britain's Sunday Times Magazine: "She was lovely but we shouldn't have got married."I think I was trying to please her mother. I got married because I didn't want to appear rude." The star has also revealed he dreamed of being a vet when he was a child. He says he was desperate to take care of animals when he grew up, but wasn't good enough in science classes.Irons, was born on the Isle of Wight and went to school in Dorset, said: "I wanted to be a veterinarian, like a childhood friend. He had a practice in London in the week and at the weekend he would come down to look after cows and horses."It seemed perfect, but I wasn't strong on science."
