Jessica Simpson is reportedly "sad, mad, and confused" after Tony Romo finished their relationship.
The pop star was allegedly dumped by the Dallas Cowboys quarterback on the eve of her 29th birthday on Friday (10Jul09).
The 20-month romance came to an end after Romo reportedly found text messages from her former love John Mayer on her cell phone.
And the singer has taken the split badly, and has turned to her close-knit family to get her through, according to People.com.
A source tells the website, "Jessica was really blindsided. She's sad, mad, and confused. Her emotions are all over the place.
"She is holding up okay. She is with her family. They are - as always - very supportive of her. She's gone through heartache before. She wants someone who is on the same page that she is. If she has to move on for that, she will."
Meanwhile Simpsons ex Nick Lachey has brushed off rumours he and ex-wife Jessica Simpson are planning to reunite after the pair recently found themselves single - insisting they haven't spoken "in probably two years".
The ex couple, which became a pop culture phenomenon as a result of its hit reality TV show Newlyweds, divorced in 2006.
She is holding up okay. She is with her family. They are - as always - very supportive of her. She's gone through heartache before. She wants someone who is on the same page that she is. If she has to move on for that, she will.
But Lachey insists it's pure coincidence he split from his girlfriend of three years, Vanessa Minnillo, just weeks before Simpson's American football star ex Tony Romo called off their 20-month relationship earlier this month (Jul09).
Lachey tells People.com, "I think it’s fun storytelling, but there's very little truth to any of it. I certainly have heard about her breakup and I wish her the best, as I’ve always done. Aside from that, there really is nothing to say.
"I haven't talked to her in probably two years. I wish her happiness. That’s where it pretty much ends."
