John Mayer Has Christie Brinkley Approval

John Mayer has the approval of former supermodel Christie Brinkley if he ever wants to date her daughter Alexa.

Newly-single Brinkley admits she's quite fond of the singer/songwriter herself but insists her "cougar days" are over when it comes to dating toyboys.

But she says, "He's perfect dating material for my daughter... You guys could make beautiful music together."

Singer/songwriter Alexa, 23, is Brinkley's daughter by rocker Billy Joel.

In recent months Mayer's personal life has made more front pages than his musical career as he romanced former Friends star Jennifer Aniston.

But he has dated a whole bevvy of beautiful women including Jennifer Love Hewitt, Jessica Simpson and Minka Kelly.

He began dating Aniston in April 2008 but the couple split after seven months before getting back together.

The pair split for good in March of this year.
