Johnny Knoxville's security explosion

Johnny Knoxville was detained by police after he brought a grenade into Los Angeles International Airport.

The 'Jackass' star was held by authorities after a scanner detected the inactive bomb in his carry on luggage early yesterday morning (15.01.09).

He told police it was a prop from a photo shoot and he completely forgot it was in his bag.

After officers confirmed there was no explosive components or firing pin, Johnny - real name Philip John Clapp - was allowed to board his flight to Miami.

Police Sgt. Jim Holcomb said: "He told police it was a prop from a photo shoot and he completely forgot it was in his bag."

The prankster - who shot to fame for his wild stunts on the hit US show - was said to be very cooperative throughout the incident and apologised for the misunderstanding.

Prosecutors are yet to decide if the 38-year-old star will be charged for carrying the prohibited item.

This is not the first time Johnny has found himself on the wrong side of the law.
