Jumper Vaults To U.s. Box Office Number One....

Science-fiction film Jumper has leaped to the top of the U.S. box office chart, beating out competition from dance movie Step Up 2 The Streets.

Jumper, which stars Hayden Christensen and Rachel Bilson, debuted at number one with takings of $27.2 million (#13.6 million) over the weekend (15-17Feb08).

Step Up 2 The Streets is another new entry at two with $19.7 million (#9.85 million), while The Spiderwick Chronicles opens at three with $19.1 million (£9.55 million).

Fool's Gold drops three places to four with $13.1 million (£6.55 million), while romantic comedy Definitely, Maybe took advantage of the Valentine's Day weekend to debut at five with $9.7 million (£4.85 million).
