Kaiser Chiefs are to take a long break from music.

The band were "gutted" when latest single 'Good Days Bad Days' didn't reach the top 100 of the UK singles chart and after being snubbed for this year's BRIT Awards they have decided to have some time off.

A source said: "The band were naturally gutted the last single didn't chart and for them to be ignored by the BRITs this year has also been a bitter blow. They are taking time to reflect, take stock and enjoy life away from the limelight."

For a period they were constantly on TV and on the radio, they became overexposed

The band - singer Ricky Wilson, guitarist Andrew 'Whitey' White, drummer Nick Hodgson, bassist Simon Rix and keyboard player Nick 'Peanut' Baines - will not be releasing anymore tracks from third album, 'Off With Their Heads', which was co-produced by Mark Ronson.

The source added: "There was huge excitement when the Kaisers and Ronson confirmed they were working together. It was a dream pairing. But perhaps it came a little too quickly. For a period they were constantly on TV and on the radio, they became overexposed."

Once their current tour is completed the band will take the rest of 2009 off except for a few festival appearances.
