Tom Cruise surprised wife Katie Holmes with an early wedding anniversary celebration in Boston, Massachusetts on Saturday (14Nov09) - to make up for the fact the couple won't be together to mark the date (18Nov) they wed three years ago in Italy.

The romantic movie star rented out the second floor of exclusive restaurant Bricco, so he and his wife could dine in peace.

People.com reports the couple dined on pasta, Chilean sea bass and steak.

They held hands the entire night

Restaurant boss Ron Leduc says, "They held hands the entire night".

The couple also dined out together on Sunday (15Nov09) - at Boston's Abe and Louie's restaurant, which has become a favourite of the couple.

This time, they were joined by their security team.

Cruise has jetted off to film Knight and Day with Cameron Diaz in Austriaand Holmes is shooting The Romantics on Long Island, New York.
