Keanu and Sandra together again.

Twelve years after they met on a speeding bus Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock are reunited by a magical mailbox.

Keanu and Sandra last worked together on 1994 film ‘Speed’ .. the action packed movie which launched her career and gave new life to his faltering one.

Now the pair are back together for time-travelling drama ‘The Lake House’. Directed by Argentinean director Alejandro Agresti, the film focuses on an architect (Reeves) and a doctor (Bullock) who exchange love letters despite living two years apart.

Sandra said: "I worked with him before and I always knew we would work together again sooner rather than later."

Keanu was the first to acknowledge that a lot has changed since the pair boarded that bus over a decade ago. He added: "We enjoy spending time together and appreciating how we’re growing up. Sandra has developed so much as a person and is showing much more experience in her craft. She is a delight."

So why did it take the stars so long to team up again? The couple have remained friends, but Keanu - which translates as ‘coolness’ and aptly describes his desire to stay out of the media spotlight - can be a hard person to track down.

For the past 10 years Keanu, a Canadian citizen with a part Chinese part Hawaiian father and an English mother, has been leading a restless life, moving between hotels and living out of a suitcase.

His wanderlust can be traced back to his unconventional childhood living with a mother who refused to settle in one town.

But it seems Keanu’s wandering days are over - he has bought a house and is rumoured to be marrying his girlfriend, Claire Forlani, in the Hollywood mansion next year. Keanu is the first to admit some of his acting choices have tarnished his career. He confessed: "I still wake up and think ‘Gosh, I shouldn’t have done that.’ "I was bringing some of those films home with me and I felt like I needed a shower."

He shot to fame as a teenage waster in ‘Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure’ .. beating Kiefer Sutherland to the role .. and has never managed to fully shake off the dimwitted surfer dude image.

The success he enjoyed with ‘Speed’ was short-lived. He suffered dismal reviews and poor box office takings for films including ‘Sweet November’ and ‘Hardball’.

He finally found his niche in action films, with leading roles in ‘The Matrix’ sci-fi trilogy and 2005 horror film ‘Constantine’ resurrecting his career.

Keanu is one of the richest men in Hollywood .. after raking in 15 per cent of the takings from the ‘Matrix’ trilogy - yet he insists money is not important to him. "Money isn’t everything. I give lots away and live simply. Health is much more important."

Keanu has backed up his convictions by donating huge sums to cancer charities - his sister Kim, is battling leukaemia. He also gave $50million of his fee from ‘The Matrix’ to the un-sung heroes behind the screen .. the crew members.
