Keanu Reeves is to take on the lead role in new movie 'Jekyll'.

The 'Speed' actor will star in the big-screen adaptation of the classic book 'The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde', which will be scripted by 'Revolutionary Road' screenwriter Justin Haythe.

'Bronson' director Nicolas Winding Refn is also in negotiations to oversee the project.

The plot details are being kept secret but it is thought the story will be loosely based on Robert Louis Stevenson's London-based novel, which follows and doctor who accidentally creates a dark side for himself when trying to rid himself of all evil.

There have been many remakes of the big, with the most recent being the British TV mini series, which starred Dougray Scott as the split-personalitied doctor.
