Kiefer Sutherland faces bidding goodbye to Jack Bauer as early as next year (10) - producers are considering axing hit show 24, Sutherland was the top earner on TV Guide magazine's drama list earlier this year (09), netting $550,000 (£366,600) for every outing as as action man Bauer in the series.
But programming bosses at Fox admit the the show's eighth season could be its last.
TV executive Kevin Reilly tells the New York Post, "It's our last contractual season of 24. There are a lot of moving parts, so we're not sure what will happen after that.
We haven't made any decision whether it's back or not
"It's going to come down to a business decision. It's not an inexpensive show on the network books and we also want to finish strong. This is not a show we want to prop up...
