Bollywood News: Reputations Rest On Kisna

20-01-2005 00:00

As previously reported the film industry has its eyes set on Friday when Kisna arrives carrying the high expectations and the hopes that this release will become 2005's first big box office hit.

Ghai Kishna's director has not yet to achieve a true 'classic' movie but despite this he still carries a reputation as a movie moghul with the result the industry are eagerly awaiting Kisna

The film a typical Subhash Ghai carries a titanic music score, composed by Ismail Durbar and AR Rahman but this time he has worked with Vivek Oberoi for the first time in an unusual director-star combination so bearing that in mind Oberoi will not be the gamble that it at first appears.

The only question is wether the audience will warm to what is essentially a period film although audiences have shown an appetite for such period offerings this is bourne out by the recent success of Devdas.

Ghai promises a strong plot in a distinctly non-traditional British Rag set Kisna. Kisna is about the love story between a British girl (Antonia Bernath) and an honourable Indian villager with the plot further complicated by the heroes Indian lover played by newcomer Isha Sharvani.

Sharvani is receiving the right accolades and looks set to be big news in Bollywood the film industry are excited about Ghai's debutante. Sharvani is all set to take the film industry by storm in a way no previous female discovery has.

Vivek Oberoi although not the most popular actor currently, has had a difficult year with Yuva and Kyun!...Ho Gaya Na flopping at the box office is certainly holding his breathe that Kisna is the hit that will restore his reputation.

So it would seem that more than one reputation is resting on audience approval for Kisna.
