Rabbi Takes Aim At Natalie Portman For Indian Princess Portrayal.... Latest: Natalie Portman has been dealt a bitter blow just in time for Jewish holy day Yom Kippur - a leading U.S. Rabbi has condemned her portrayal of an Indian princess in a new video.The Star Wars actress portrays Princess Carmensita Saplingita in ex-boyfriend Devendra Banhart's new promo for Carmensita - a move that has already upset leading Hindu scholars, who have called for her to publicly apologise for mocking their religion.And now prominent U.S. Jewish leader Rabbi Jonathan Freirich has called on Israel-born Portman to use the upcoming Day of Atonement to make amends to the Hindus she has offended.He says, "This video mocks a venerable religion. At this time of the Jewish High Holy days, when soul-searching and making of amends are recommended, Ms.Portman has the perfect opportunity to show her true feelings of inclusion and open-mindedness in apologising for her participation in this video."Last week (ends03Oct08), acclaimed Hindu and Indo-American statesman Rajan Zed admitted he was deeply hurt by the video, which he claims simply serves to feed incorrect stereotypes of his religion.He said, "The images used in the video are revered in Hinduism and are not to be thrown around loosely for dramatic effects."We invite Hollywood to immerse itself in Hinduism, but we ask that actors and actresses, directors and producers take our religion seriously and respectfully."Zed is joined by officials at the Hindu Alliance of India, Shri Ramayan Pracharini Sabha and the India Heritage Panel in calling for a public apology from Jewish Portman. The actress' representative has refused to comment.

|s filmsnews * Mum'S Anguish Over 'Frail And Thin' Amy Winehouse Amy Winehouse's distressed mum Janis has confessed her shock at pictures of the singer's latest shambolic public appearance.
The Rehab hitmaker attended the Prince's Trust End of Summer Ball bash in London late last month (Sep08) and stunned revellers with her erratic behaviour and frighteningly dishevelled appearance.
Winehouse was incoherent throughout the bash, and faced police questioning after she reportedly lashed out at a female dancer when asked to pose for a photo.
And Janis Winehouse admits she was shocked at her daughter's appearance.
She tells Britain's Closer magazine, "It is hard seeing pictures of her looking like that. She's very thin and frail. But as her mother she probably looks worse to me.
"Amy's living the rock-chick lifestyle. I don't think it's a choice for her any more, though - it rules her."
And Janis has threatened to report her daughter's drug dealers to police - because they are standing in the way of her recovery.
She adds, "She's my little girl and is very vulnerable. If I came across any of these people (drug dealers) I'd tell them where to go. And I'd call the police.
"Amy has her dad and me looking out for her and that's something a lot of celebrities don't have. But we can't force her into anything. She has to want to do it (rehab) or it will be hopeless. I know she can beat it, she just has to make the call."
