Lindsay Lohan has stunned fans by confessing she's grateful for all of her legal run-ins, prison and rehab stints, and personal woes in the past two years - because they have helped her perfect her acting.

The troubled star, who has been panned for her latest role as Elizabeth Taylor in upcoming TV movie Liz and Dick, admits she never has to worry about scenes in which she has to sob - because she just recalls one of many recent low points.

She tells the new issue of Us Weekly magazine, "(I regret) nothing, because then I wouldn't have been able to cry in scenes at the drop of a hat. I have it tattooed 'Live Without Regrets'. I'm not saying I wanted to go to a jail cell, but I've drawn from all of it".

And now she's out to show her fiercest critics that she's got what it takes to become a great actress "I want to be known as an actress, not a troubled starlet. "People can think what they want, and the only thing I can do is prove them wrong".
