Brazil's Live Earth Concert Back On

Brazil's Live Earth concert is back on after organisers persuaded a judge to reconsider an injunction blocking the event.The promoters behind the global warming awareness gig convinced Rio de Janeiro's prosecutors to revoke the injunction after coming up with a new set of security plans on Thursday (05Jul07).A judge ordered organisers to halt the free Copacabana Beach concert on Wednesday (04Jul07) because local police couldn't guarantee the safety of the millions of fans expected to attend. The suspension was later lifted when organisers obtained a police guarantee that there would be adequate security at the event.Performers including Lenny Kravitz, Pharrell Williams and Macy Gray have been lined up to play on the beach.Brazil's show is the only free public event of all the Live Earth concerts taking place around the world on Saturday (07Jul07).A Los Angeles Live Earth-related concert has become the third leg of Saturday's global extravaganza to be cancelled.

The Viva Earth benefit concert, which was due to take place at the city's famed Memorial Coliseum, has been called off for reasons unknown as WENN went to press.

Stars including Ciara, Tyrese and Busta Rhymes were due to perform at the cancelled event, which now follows in the footsteps of scrapped Live Earth concerts in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil and Istanbul, Turkey.

A spokeswoman for the public relations company organising the day-long festival says, "I have been informed that the concert has been cancelled."

A Gibson guitar signed by every artist performing this weekend's will be auctioned online for charity.

The acoustic Gibson J45 will come adorned with the autographs of a galaxy of celebrities including Madonna, Duran Duran, Alicia Keys, Ludacris, Genesis and The Police.

The instrument, which is made from rainforest-certified mahogany, will be sold on auction website eBay. All monies raised will benefit The Alliance For Climate Protection.
