Fox Donates Fortune To Parkinson's Research.Actor MICHAEL J FOX is donating $800,000 (£445,000) to research into preventing Parkinson's sufferers injuring themselves in falls.The Michael J Fox Foundation For Parkinson's Research is giving the money to scientists who will study ways to prevent falls and improve the mobility of people with the disease. The group from Melbourne, Australia hopes to bring the rate of injuries caused from falls down from 65 per cent to 30 per cent.And the researchers are grateful for the donation from Fox, who suffers from Parkinson's disease himself.MEG MORRIS, a physiotherapy professor at the University Of Melbourne says, "The international literature shows in the first 10 years after diagnoses, around 20 per cent have serious fractures or injuries resulting from falls."(Fox) has been a role model for people with Parkinson's and their supporters, to raise funding and awareness about this condition.
