A car owned by Matthew McConaughey has fetched $61,600 in an online charity auction. The actor's 1971 Corvette Stingray convertible was sold on eBay to raise money for Oprah Winfrey's Angel Network charity which provides much needed funds for the victims and areas left devastated by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. A spokesperson for the internet auction site confirmed the vehicle was sold for the staggering sum but refused to reveal who the winning bidder was. McConaughey's car was posted on eBay on July 17, and in the posting the 'Failure To Launch' actor wrote: "I admire and enjoy this car, but it's a luxury that I'm willing to relinquish at this point because I am fortunate enough to have everything I need, and the sale of it will help so many." The Mediterranean blue car, nicknamed 'Mako', was originally bought by McConaughey in a 1998 auction and currently has 100,000 miles on the clock.
