Damon Albarn: 'Forgot About Blur' - Mick Jaggers Hitler Comparison

03-09-2005 23:00

British singer DAMON ALBARN is thrilled with the anonymity he enjoys as a member of animated band GORILLAZ, because he has been able to reinvent himself.

The star collaborated with illustrator JAMIE HEWITT to create the animated group - and insists he is "loads happier" now that he has moved away from his previous incarnation as the frontman of guitar band BLUR.

He says, "(Gorillaz are) essentially anonymous for most people.

"It doesn't feel like that in Britain. But everywhere else I go, when people ask what I do, I say, 'I'm a musician, I'm Gorillaz.'

"They go, 'Oh, you're the guy!' People don't really know white British art rock that much around the world."
