Mel Brooks is turning his classic sci-fi spoof 'Spaceballs' into an animated TV series. The original 1987 film - which starred Bill Pullman, the late John Candy and Rick Moranis - parodied a number of well known, and much loved, space films, including 'Star Wars', 'Planet of the Apes' and 'Alien'.'Spaceballs: The Animated Series' will continue to spoof the sci-fi genre but will also mock reality TV shows, current popular culture and politics.Mel - who is the mastermind behind a string of hit comedies, including 'The Producers', 'Young Frankenstein' and 'High Anxiety' - will voice two characters in the series which is due to air on US cable network G4 at the end of next year.
