Mia Farrow is preparing to embark on a 10-day tour of Central Africa to highlight the risk of polio.
The Goodwill Ambassador for Unicef is planning stops in Chad and the Democratic Republic of the Congo on the trip, which starts on Sunday (12Feb12).
Farrow, who suffered from the disease as a child, is keen to raise awareness of polio in a bid to drive down the number of outbreaks of the viral infection.
A press release from Unicef reveals Farrow will also travel to the cityof Mao to highlight the urgency in providing nutritional support to children and their families who lack food and clean water, which can prevent them from absorbing the polio vaccine.
