Michael Douglas attended a court hearing in New York City on Friday (29Jan10) to support his embattled son Cameron, who pleaded guilty to drug trafficking earlier this week (Wed27Jan10).

Cameron Douglas was arrested in August (09) following a police raid on his room at the Big Apple's Hotel Gansevoort.

He was taken into custody on suspicion of possessing methamphetamines and cocaine with intent to distribute, and originally put under house arrest at his mother's Manhattan address.

However, after the 31 year old allegedly asked his girlfriend to smuggle heroin to him in an electric toothbrush he was placed back behind bars in a correctional facility.

He entered a plea of guilty on Wednesday in Manhattan Federal court, and appeared back in a closed courtroom on Friday (29Jan10).

According to the New York Daily News, Oscar-winner Douglas also attended the hearing to sign paperwork so his son could be bailed until he is sentenced.

The publication states the hearing's transcripts were sealed, which usually points towards the suspect helping police with their investigation.

He faces a possible 10-year prison sentence.
