Michael J Fox was accused of exaggerating the symptoms of his Parkinson's disease by a US radio host yesterday (25.10.06).Fans of the 'Back To The Future' star were left in uproar after Rush Limbaugh told listeners he believed Fox was 'acting' during his appearance on a commercial backing stem cell research.Limbaugh - who has since apologised for his accusations - said: "He is exaggerating the effects of the disease. He's moving all around and shaking and it's purely an act. "This is really shameless of Michael J Fox. Either he didn't take his medication or he's acting."This is the only time I've ever seen Michael J Fox portray any of the symptoms of the disease he has. He can barely control himself." Limbaugh changed tack while still on-air and gave a half-hearted apology after listeners voiced their disgust. The multi-millionaire, right-wing DJ said: "Now people are telling me they have seen Michael J Fox in interviews and he does appear the same way in the interviews as he does in this commercial.

"All right then, I stand corrected. So I will hugely admit that I was wrong, and I will apologise to Michael J Fox, if I am wrong in characterising his behaviour on this commercial as an act.

"The truth - the whole truth - must be told. Michael J Fox is allowing his illness to be exploited. That Mr Fox is a victim is not a license for him to mislead or manipulate the public."

Fox, 45, was diagnosed in 1991 with the degenerative disorder which affects muscle control, speech and movement.

Since his diagnosis the Hollywood star has been a keen stem-cell research campaigner.

In his appearance on the Democrat TV commercial for stem cell research, the actor's body jerks and his head moves from side to side.
