Michelle Pfeiffer's Basic refusal

09-08-2007 14:00

Michelle Pfeiffer turned down the starring role in 'Basic Instinct' because she didn't want to upset her father.

The actress, who was offered the racy part of Catherine Tramell in the 1992 erotic thriller, had to say no because her now deceased dad would have disapproved of the explicit sex scenes and gratuitous nudity.

Pfeiffer said: "I couldn't do that because of the sexual parts, the nudity. My father was still alive and I'm kind of prudish."

The role eventually went to Sharon Stone, who went down in cinematic history for the police interrogation scene where she uncrosses her legs to reveal her vagina to a shocked Michael Douglas.

Pfeiffer recently revealed she had a series of "bizarre" meetings about her "droopy" breasts for her latest movie.

The 49-year-old actress plays an ancient witch obsessed with recapturing her youth and firming up her chest in new movie 'Stardust'.

Pfeiffer admits she had to endure some uncomfortable conversations as producers decided which one of her breasts would sag.
